Question.(1) What are the main characteristics of Bhavabhuti's plays ?

Answer. Bhavabhuti's dramas are remarkable for characterisation, plot - construction, language and style. His play 'Uttar Ram Charit' describes Ram's life-story after his coronation.  His play 'Mahavir Charit' presents Ram's marriage, Ram's exile, Sita's abduction and Ram's coronation. The play 'Malti Madhav' presents a very gripping love story.

Question.(2) How does Bhavabhuti express his optimism ?

Answer. Bhavabhuti says that if the learned critics find fault with his poetry and do not share his thought, let them do so. Certainly the world is not going to end with these critics. Time is endless and the world is wide. The poet is certain that the coming generations will appreciate his poetry and share his thought. Thus Bhavabhuti expresses his optimism.

 BHARTRHARI Question.(1) What do you know about Bhartrhari ? Answer. Bhartrhari was the king of ujjayini (now Ujjain) in the Malwa region of Central India. He a great scholar, Sanskrit poet gram marian and philosopher. He belonged to parmar dynasty and lived in the latter half of the fifth century. He was the exponent of moral principles.
